Accommodations
Meals
Food is a central element to any voyage. Standing watch is tiring and your sleep schedule will get disrupted by the watch schedule. Eating well and eating consistently is also one of the best ways to ward off sea sickness.
Aboard Wonder we eat well. Below are examples of what you will eat aboard. Do you have dietary restrictions? We can usually accommodate you, but read more about that in our FAQ.

A hearty breakfast is essential after coming off Dawn Watch.
Waffles with berries, whipped cream topping, and authentic maples syrup.
Steel-cut oats with a topping bar of dried fruit and nuts.
Breakfast burritos or breakfast sandwiches on english muffin with eggs, cheese, sausage, and bacon.
Biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs.
We stock cold cereal and instant oatmeal that you can help yourself to at any time.

Our lunches feature a main dish as well as a side dish, usually a salad.

Chicken quesadillas with a topping bar of sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and scallions.
We stock peanut butter, jelly, nutella, honey, and other ingredients for sandwiches that you can help yourself to at any time.
Dinner
Our lunches feature a main dish as well as a side dish, usually a salad.
Baked lasagna with garlic bread.
Baked salmon filet with a couscous lemon salad.
Pork roast with garlic mashed potatoes.
Baked enchiladas with a Mexican bean salad.
Chicken Pad Thai with sautéed vegetables and topped with crushed peanuts, cilantro, and fresh lime.
We stock instant ramen noodles and a few other “add hot water” instant meals that you can help yourself to at any time.
Snacks and “Midrats”
Midnight rations (“midrats”) are snacks that we leave out at night for when hunger strikes while you’re standing night watch. Midrats usually take the form of baked goods and could include homemade cookies, muffins, bars, banana bread, or a fresh loaf or cake.
We also stock a very robust snack pantry that looks like we went a little nuts at Costco (which we did). This includes energy bars, trail mix, protein bars, saltines, and other snacks that we have seen prove popular on voyages over the years.
Help yourself to all of it. There should never be moment when you’re hungry on the voyage except for the moments before a meal when you can smell it wafting up to deck from the galley.
Beverages
Staying hydrated at sea is one of the most important components of self care and we make it easy. Before every voyage, we refill Wonder’s water tanks with filtered water which is then filtered again after coming out of the tank before entering your water bottle. Running out of water is very unlikely given our extensive tankage, but just in case, we have a reverse osmosis water maker to make fresh water from the sea.
We brew delicious artisan coffee 24/7 and have a wide selection of teas. We also stock gatorade powder, lemonade powder, and rehydration solution.
Since guest crew are a part of ship operations, we do not allow alcohol consumption during our voyages, so we do not stock alcohol on the ship.
Living Quarters
Close Quarters
Wonder’s hull is 65 feet long and 16 feet wide at its beam. Within this space, we are able to fit a full working galley, two heads, and enough beds to legally accommodate 24 people aboard overnight. Nevertheless, we cap guest crew at 12 and we usually sail with 5-6 professional crew. This ensures that the ship is cozy, but not overcrowded.
Each crew member gets their own private bunk with a fan, light, and curtain for privacy. These bunks are 6’ 2” long with at least 24” of headroom and width. They feature a basic camping foam mattress, pillow, blanket, and freshly laundered bedding. We encourage guest crew to bring a sleeping bag to supplement this because it gets cold on the water at night. Yes, even in the Florida Keys.
As of January 2026, Wonder is in the ship yard getting an upgrade to her bunks to make them more comfortable and private. Looking at the pictures on this page, you can see that these bunks are wide open with no curtain or division between them. When we are finished in time for summer 2026, our bunks will have a cozier feel.
There is storage in, around, and under bunks for your personal items as well as hooks where any wet gear can hang to dry.
